Privacy Policy
Effective date: EFFECTIVE_DATE
My AI Limits ("the app") is a macOS menu bar app made by COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. Short version: your data stays on your Mac. We do not run a server that receives your usage, sessions, or keys.
What stays on your Mac
- Web sessions and API keys. When you sign in to Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok inside the app, or paste an API key, the resulting session cookies or keys are stored in your Mac's Keychain. They are sent only to the provider they belong to (Anthropic, OpenAI, or xAI) to read your plan limits.
- Usage snapshot. Remaining-limit percentages, reset times, and plan names are saved in a local file the app and its widget read. It never contains keys or cookies.
- Settings. Preferences such as refresh options are stored in the app's local preferences.
What leaves your Mac
- Requests to AI providers you connect, using your own session or key, to read usage and limits. Those providers' own privacy policies apply.
- Purchase verification and unlocking. Stripe processes checkout information under its privacy policy. To unlock, the app sends your purchase email and an anonymous random device ID to our license server. We store purchase references and up to 3 device registrations per email to check entitlement and enforce that limit. The server returns a signed token that the app verifies offline and re-checks online about once a week. We do not store IP addresses or log emails or tokens. The current Stripe checkout is test mode and does not collect real money.
- Update checks. The app checks myailimits.com (
https://myailimits.com/appcast.xml) for new versions (Sparkle). This request includes the app version and macOS version, and no personal data.
What we do not do
No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. No selling or sharing of personal data. We cannot see your AI conversations, usage, sessions, or keys.
Deleting your data
Sign out of each provider in the app (this removes its Keychain item), then delete the app. You can also remove items named "com.berrybots.usagemeter" in Keychain Access and the folder ~/Library/Application Support/UsageMeter. To delete purchase records, email austin.berry@protonmail.com.
Website
This section covers the website myailimits.com, not the app. The website may collect email addresses you voluntarily submit via the Get notified or download forms. They are used only for those emails, and you can unsubscribe anytime. The website uses ANALYTICS_PROVIDER_PLACEHOLDER for privacy-friendly page analytics if enabled. The app's “No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs” statement above refers to the app and remains in effect.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).
Changes
We will post changes here and update the effective date.
