Install guide

Install My AI Limits on your Mac.

Six short steps, about two minutes. No terminal, no API keys.
  1. Step 1: Download the DMG.

Click “Download for Mac”. The file MyAILimits-<version>.dmg lands in your Downloads folder.

  2. Step 2: Drag to Applications.

Open the DMG and drag My AI Limits onto the Applications folder shortcut in the window.

  3. Step 3: Open it.

Open Applications and double-click My AI Limits. (You can eject the DMG afterwards.)

  4. Step 4: First-run sign-in.

Click Sign in for each AI you use: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot, DeepSeek. Sign in with Google or email the way you normally do, and the window confirms when you're connected. Do as many or as few providers as you like. No API keys or terminal needed.

  5. Step 5: Find the ring in your menu bar.

Look at the top-right of your screen, near the clock: the My AI Limits ring icon. Click it to open the dropdown. Tip: if your menu bar is crowded, the icon can be hidden behind the notch on some MacBooks — close a few other menu-bar apps or hold ⌘ and drag icons to make room.

  6. Step 6: (Optional) Add the widget.

Right-click the desktop → Edit Widgets → search “My AI Limits”.

What if macOS shows a warning?

  • Release builds are intended to be signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS should open them normally. (Owner: confirm before launch.)
  • If you see “My AI Limits can't be opened” or “Apple could not verify…”: open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to My AI Limits, then confirm. Or Control-click the app in Applications → Open.

Keychain prompt

If macOS asks to allow My AI Limits to access your Keychain, click Always Allow — that's where your sign-in sessions are stored, on your Mac only.

Uninstall

Sign out of each provider in the app, quit it, and drag it to the Trash. Optional cleanup: remove Keychain items named “com.berrybots.usagemeter” in Keychain Access and the folder ~/Library/Application Support/UsageMeter.
